Position Summary:

Forestry and Green Skills Development Officer will be responsible for the planning, implementation, and monitoring of project activities related to forestry, agriculture, Green Skills and sustainable livelihood development. The incumbent will ensure that interventions are community-driven, contextually appropriate, and aligned with both organizational strategies and donor requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

a.     Risk Assessment and Resilience planning

  • Initiate contacts with potential target communities by visiting villages and meeting with residents, key stakeholders, existing CBOs (VDCs), appointed representatives, focus groups (youth, women, elderly), and any other relevant person.
  • Organize and facilitate general meetings and focus group discussions to introduce the project, gather information on community needs, and identify potential solutions.
  • Support the formation or strengthening of community-based committees (VDC).
  • Facilitate vulnerability assessment and formulation of community-led resilience plan, etc.

b.     Planning and Implementation

  • Support the development and execution of project work plans related to forestry, agriculture, and livelihood components.
  • Promote climate-smart agricultural practices, Nursery raising, improved farming techniques, and sustainable resource management.
  • Identify and support Green livelihood opportunities tailored to local contexts, including vocational training, income-generating activities, and market linkages.
  • Provide technical support to farmers, community members, and stakeholders through training sessions, demonstrations, and regular field visits.

c.     Monitoring and Support

  • Organize and hold general and focus group meetings to introduce project and its strategy and activities in the field, and to collect information on the current situation of the community (problems, needs, gaps, vulnerabilities) and ideas on possible responses and solutions.
  • Address and solve problems that might arise between the community and project team or among community members, during and because of the implementation of the project activities, reporting, or handing over, if the case, to the project management, the most sensitive and serious ones.
  • Any other job-related task assigned by the supervisor.

4. Qualifications:

 a.     Education

Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Development Studies, Climate Change, environmental science, and forestry, or related fields.

 b.     Experience:

  • Overall 3 – 5 years of professional experience with minimum of 01 year of relevant experience in a similar position in NGOs/INGOs.
  • Experience working on forestry and green skills interventions.
  • Familiarity with gender-responsive approaches and inclusion of vulnerable groups.
  • Strong facilitation, communication, and participatory training skills.
  • Basic knowledge of record-keeping, reporting, and coordination with local government.

5. Skills and Competencies

  • Good organizational skills and ability to multitask work under pressure, meet deadlines in a fast-paced, fluid environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication and mobilization skills
  • Creative and flexible with problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated professionalism and diplomacy.
  • Good understanding of MS Office tools
  • Fluency in Urdu and Sindhi (preferred).
