Trust for Democratic Education and Accountability (TDEA) is a non-profit organization committed to enhancing democratic accountabilities in Pakistan. TDEA in collaboration with partner organizations, is implementing "Inclusivity Through Diversity: Promoting Minority Rights in Pakistan” project across 13 districts in Sindh and Punjab. This 36-month initiative aims to support minority rights by engaging key stakeholders, establishing local-level committees, and enhancing the capacity of minority representatives in legislative bodies. The action will focus on local areas with high rates of violence and discrimination against minorities within districts. Through advocacy, training, and strategic support, the project seeks to drive policy reforms, empower human rights defenders, and create a safer, more inclusive environment for religious minorities across Pakistan.

Job Purpose:

The Project Coordinator will oversee the planning, implementation, monitoring, and reporting of all project activities. They will provide strategic guidance and support to ensure that the project’s objectives, outcomes, and outputs are achieved efficiently and in alignment with TDEA’s guidelines and policies and that it contributes to promoting and protecting the rights of religious minorities.

Job Responsibilities and Competencies:

1.      Project Planning and Management:

  • Develop detailed work plans and schedules for project activities, ensuring alignment with project objectives and timelines.
  • Oversee establishing and supporting local-level engagement structures in the target districts and monitor their progress, addressing challenges as needed.
  • Coordinate with the project partners, human rights defenders and community members to promote inter-communal harmony and facilitate community engagement and protection activities.
  • Organize and lead community dialogues, ensuring inclusivity and sensitivity to local contexts.

2.      Stakeholder and Community Engagement:

  • Foster relationships with policymakers, minority representatives, legislators, and rights-based commissions.
  • Represent the project in meetings and briefings with stakeholders, conveying project progress and challenges.
  • Understand local contexts and cultural dynamics, especially related to religious and ethnic minorities, and ensure that project activities are inclusive and respectful.
  • Foster constructive dialogues with community members, civil society groups, statutory commissions, federal and provincial legislatures, provincial government departments on human rights and relevant journalists to promote inter-communal harmony.

3.    Capacity-Building Activities:

  • Organize training, workshops, and public campaigns that inform and empower minority communities and the broader public about rights, inclusion, and anti-discrimination measures.
  • Coordinate the LegisLead training program for minority representatives.
  • Organize and oversee community-level training sessions for HRDs and youth, ensuring they are well-prepared to support minority rights.

4. Monitoring, Evaluation, and Reporting:

  • Develop and implement monitoring and evaluation plans to assess the project’s progress against set outcomes and outputs.
  • Document and report on project activities, achievements, and challenges, providing data-driven insights and recommendations.
  • Conduct risk assessments and implement mitigation strategies in collaboration with the respective Team Lead.

5.      Advocacy and Campaign Management:

  • Advocate effectively for policy changes that support minority rights, with an emphasis on building awareness and addressing discrimination.
  • Work directly with minority communities to understand their needs, gather their input, and empower them in the project’s activities.
  • Engage with government agencies, civil society organizations, and minority groups to build support for minority rights initiatives and create an inclusive dialogue.

6.  Knowledge of Minority Rights and Legal Frameworks

  • Understand international and national laws related to minority rights. Pakistani legal protections and cultural contexts impacting minority communities.
  • Understand Pakistan's diverse religious, ethnic, and linguistic minorities and sensitivity to their unique challenges and needs.

Required Qualification:

  • Master’s degree in relevant field with experience of 8 years of relevance to TDEA programs
