Purpose:
Under funding from Gavi, the vaccine alliance, Jhpiego is implementing the feasibility implementation research project of “Engaging men as caregivers and supporting successful parenting towards improved immunization outcomes and equitable health services” (“Men’s engagement in immunization”) project in collaboration with the Federal Directorate of Immunization and Provincial EPI Programs Sindh and Balochistan.
The project goal is to contribute towards Gavi gender strategy for “increasing understanding of programmatic interventions that overcome gender-related barriers, specifically engaging male caregivers and supporting successful parenting towards improved immunization outcomes and more equitable health services.”
The project is being implemented within two districts of the provinces of Sindh and Balochistan. Jhpiego seeks to hire Data Enumerators/Data Collectors in Karachi East and Quetta districts. The Enumerator will be responsible for collecting data in the field at the union council level of both the districts. This role requires individuals to (1) visit households to conduct survey (2) Conduct FGD with male and female caregivers (female enumerators will conduct FGD with female caregivers and male enumerators with male caregivers).
Specific Objectives:
- To attend training on data collection and research tools.
- To collect quantitative data in the two union councils (one intervention UC and one control UC) of districts.
- To collect qualitative data through focus group discussions in the two union councils (one intervention UC and one control UC) of districts.
Description of objectives:
- To attend training on data collection and research tools.
- Meetings with community key person’s/stake holders to explain survey objective.
- Conduct face-to-face interviews with selected respondents (couples) using structured questionnaires through electronic data collection tools and software.
- Provide quality data to the data management officer.
- Follow the survey methodology and protocols provided by the organization.
- Review collected data for accuracy and completeness at the end of each day.
- Manage issues related to the task in field during data collection and report to line supervisor.
- Respect the cultural norms and values of the respondents and communities visited.
- Follow confidentiality and security procedures and ensure transparency of data.
- Ensure validity and reliability of collected data.

- Support the activity as per SOPs of organization.
- Data Enumerators for Qualitative data will also develop written transcript of focus group discussions, notes and translation (if required).
Deliverables:
- Submit survey data at the end of each working day. Quality-checked (for accuracy and completeness) daily reporting of collected data to data management officer.
- Submit clean notes and transcription of FGDs.
Selection Criteria:
- Bachelor’s degree with previous experience in community-based data collection both qualitative and quantitative, surveys or research.
- Experience of collecting research data on digital devices and in hard form is highly desireable.
- Familiarity with data collection tools and techniques.
- Local from the community and fluent in the local language. (Urdu, Sindhi, Pashto, Balochi)
Level of Efforts (LOE):
For Quantitative data: 30 days
For Qualitative data: 10 days
Payment Schedule:
The mode of payment is on daily basis and payment will be provided after the successful completion of data collection.
Reporting Line:
Direct reporting to Program Officer and dotted line to Data Management Officer.
