1. Background
-
Organization Name and Intro: Kindernothilfe e.V. (KNH) is an international Non-Governmental Organization working in Pakistan on the areas of Child well-being, Women Development and Community Development in Different areas of Pakistan.
-
Self Help Approach: The Self-Help Approach (SHA) focuses on empowering poor women economically, socially, and politically. Key outcomes include increased household income and assets, greater financial control for women, and improved access to resources. It also leads to enhanced visibility and participation of women in public decision-making and promotes awareness and advocacy for women’s and children’s rights. The objective of the Self-Help Approach (SHA) is to help women develop their own strategies and strengthen their roles at both individual and community levels. Training at Self Help Groups (SHGs) and Cluster Level Associations (CLAs), and at Federations level focuses on raising awareness about how women can contribute to their families' wellbeing through individual and group businesses.
2. Objectives

To provide structured training on business development, market strategy, and linkage creation to ensure long-term capability and sustainability of SHG-led businesses.

We aim to impart SHGs with practical knowledge and skills to start and manage sustainable small and large businesses, develop effective market strategies, and build strong market linkages to increase income and business sustainability.
3. Scope of Work
-
Training Topics: Must be finalized by the consultant in consultation with the KNH SHA Team, all the training material to be aligned with but not limited to the KNH Business Module, some of the important topics are as follows:

Identifying practical business opportunities (small and large-scale including individual or group businesses)

Business model development and sustainability principles
-
Financial literacy and resource mobilization
-
Market research and strategy development
-
Branding, packaging, and 4P’s.
-
Building and sustaining market linkages
-
Provide training to SHG members on new strategies and processes.
-
Develop comprehensive business plans, process maps, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
-
Facilitate exposure visits or interactions with successful enterprises when feasible.
-
Collaborate with local institutions, NGOs, or government bodies for convergence and support.
-
Empower SHGs with online marketing training and resources.
-
Provide follow-up mentoring or handholding support post-training.
-
Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of the training and suggest improvements.

Methodology: The consultant is expected to use a participatory approach, ensuring that training is engaging and relevant to given modulesincluding pre and post assessment tests of the participants along with practical field implementation. Phase wise details are as under:

Pre-Consultation Phase:
-
Need to assess the total number of SHGs running businesses in the respective area. Identifying nature of business, identify business challenges and opportunities.
-
After identifying the challenges based on the analysis and expertise, the consultant will develop a comprehensive plan of action, outlining strategic steps, timelines, and resource requirements. This plan will guide the SHGs in effectively overcoming obstacles and making the most of potential opportunities for development and growth.

Analyze industry trends, competitor strategies, and market demands relevant to SHG activities and area.

Collaborate with SHG members to define clear, measurable business objectives and choose SHG members to trained them in business development training in consultation with SHA Team to chosen Implementing partner.

Prepare training materials, manuals, and user-friendly guides in local language such as Urdu.
-
Provide plan of action based on above mentioned points.
-
During Consultation Phase:
-
Formulate business strategies aligned with SHG businesses.
-
Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency.
-
Provide training and workshops to SHG members on new strategies and processes.
-
Develop comprehensive business plans, process maps, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
-
Identify and link SHG members to other related or link minded business platforms.
-
Post-Consultation Phase:
-
Provide Implementation Support and assist in the rollout of new strategies and processes.
-
Provide monitoring & evaluation tool or establish key performance indicators to track the effectiveness of implemented strategies.
-
Provide periodic reviews and adjustments as necessary.
-
Participants:
-
Conduct trainings in field for the participants from the selected SHGs, CLAs & Federation from at least 2 Implementing partners.
-
Minimum 50 SHG members are to be trained or 25 as per project target.
4. Deliverables
-
Training Materials:
-
Training modules and materials aligned with the KNH business model to be developed by the Consultant, tailored specifically to the capacity-building needs of Self-Help Groups (SHGs) which are to be approved by the organization before the training.
-
Conduct 2 training sessions of at least five working days each in the field, including self-assessments on current business models, new and enhanced available opportunities, a market survey with participants to enhance their understanding.
-
Post-training mentoring plan for participating SHGs.
-
Report on new market linkage opportunities identified and facilitated.
-
Final training and impact report including challenges, recommendations, and success stories.
-
Document the outcomes, lessons learned, and recommendations for future improvements.
-
Evaluation: Trainer will submit evaluation report summarizing participant feedback and recommendationsalong with the action planning by participants/organizations.
5. Consultant’s Qualifications (Eligibility Criteria):
-
Expertise in Business Development Training, Planning and mitigation.
-
Experience in training design, delivery in Rural Development, Social Work, or related field.
-
Strong facilitation and communication skills.
-
Minimum 10 years or above, an experience in business development, entrepreneurship training, or livelihoods promotion with different organizations or solely.
-
Demonstrated experience working with SHGs, cooperatives, or rural enterprises.
-
Strong training and facilitation skills, including development of practical learning tools.
-
Proficiency in local language (s) and knowledge of local markets is preferred.
6. Reporting and Communication
-
Reports: Consultant will share the report within two weeks after training.
-
Communication Channels: Report will be submitted to the Country Manager KNH through SHA Team.
7. Confidentiality and Intellectual Property
-
Confidentiality: Consultant will maintain the confidentiality of all the information received during the training.
-
Intellectual Property: KNH will be owner and custodian of any training materials and intellectual property created and designed during the consultancy.
8. Payment Terms
-
Payment will be made upon submission of satisfactory training report.
-
NO advance payment will be made.
-
All the payments will be made through cross cheque.
-
No additional amounts will be claimed outside the agreed budget for the consultancy task.
-
Boarding & Lodging during the field visits and trainings will be provided by the organization.
9. Timeline
-
Proposal Submission Deadline: Sunday, 25th May 2025

Selection and Contracting: Last Week of May 2025

Pre Consultation Phase: 1st June 2025 till 15th July 2025

During Consultation Phase (Trainings): 16th July 2025 till 15th August 2025
-
Post Consultation Phase (After Trainings): 16th August 2025 till 31st August 2025, this will also continue on need basis upon mutual agreements
